Faculty of Pharmacy Participates in International Workshop on Fusion Protein Technologies
The Faculty of Pharmacy participated in the workshop titled “Fusion Protein Technologies: Design, Applications, and Innovations,” organized by the Syrian Atomic Energy Commission in collaboration with the International Centre for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology (ICGEB) from September 13 to 17, 2026.
The workshop aimed to explore the latest fusion protein technologies and to enhance scientific and practical expertise regarding their design, production, purification, and applications.
Dr. Marwa Habash, a faculty member, represented the Faculty at the workshop, participating as both a lecturer and a trainer. She delivered a theoretical lecture titled “Protein Expression Systems,” in which she discussed the key systems used for protein production, the characteristics and advantages of each system, and the criteria and factors involved in selecting the most suitable expression system for producing a target protein.
Dr. Habash also participated in several practical and applied sessions of the workshop, covering:
Expression of fusion proteins.
Protein purification using appropriate laboratory techniques and methods.
Assays and techniques used to assess the quality of the expressed protein and evaluate its properties following expression and purification.
This participation reflects the Faculty of Pharmacy‘s commitment to keeping pace with modern developments in biotechnology and enhancing the research and practical expertise of its faculty members.
