Faculty of Pharmacy Participates in Scientific Seminar on Antimicrobial Resistance
The Faculty of Pharmacy at the International University for Science and Technology (IUST) participated in a scientific seminar titled “Research on Antimicrobial Resistance and Future Directions.” Organized by the Ministry of Health in collaboration with the Public Health Network in Syria and the World Health Organization (WHO), the event took place yesterday at Ibn Al-Nafis Hospital in Damascus, featuring a distinguished group of experts and academics.
The seminar aimed to discuss recent research regarding antimicrobial resistance (AMR) in Syria, with the goal of building an evidence base and developing a research agenda aligned with Syria’s National Action Plan on Antimicrobial Resistance.
The Faculty was represented by Dr. Rana Habib, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy, who delivered a lecture titled “A Clinical Interpretation of IUST Faculty of Pharmacy Research Findings on Bacterial Antibiotic Resistance in Selected Syrian Hospitals.” During the presentation, she outlined key findings from the scientific research conducted by the Faculty in this field.
Dr. Kinda Jawish and several students from the Faculty also participated in the seminar’s activities.
This participation underscores the Faculty of Pharmacy’s commitment to strengthening its presence in scientific forums, supporting scientific research, and showcasing the research output of both the Faculty and its students regarding priority health issues.
