The President of the International University for Science and Technology and the Dean of Student Affairs receive the official sports expedition that represented the University in the Central University Sports Championship for Karate and Taekwondo
On Monday morning 22/3/2021, the President of the International University for Science and Technology, Prof. Dr. Faisal Al-Abbas, along with the Dean of Student Affairs, Dr. Fawaz Muffadi, received the sports expedition that was sent under the leadership of colleague Joseph Georgy, head of the Student’s Union branch at the university and supervised by Aghyad Hayani, member of the leadership of the union branch – head of the sports activity sub-office and coach Mustafa Al-Marhej, supervisor of sports activities at the university, to participate in the central university sports championship for karate and taekwondo, which was set up by the Executive Office of the National Union of Syrian Students – the Central Sports Activity Office in cooperation with the General Sports Union at the level of all Syrian governmental and private Syrian universities and institutes last week, in which the International University for Science and Technology won the first place represented by the student Lotus Qatini in the Karate Championship (female) who won the gold medal, and the university won the third place in the Taekwondo Championship represented by the two students Dima Al-Nouri and Hiba Rehawi (females) and awarded them the Bronze medal, Omar Jamal Al-Nouri qualified to the final round in the Taekwondo Championship.
During the meeting, the University President indicated the need to support extra-curricular activities because of their distinguished contributions among fellow students, explaining the importance of concerted efforts to this type of activities that contribute in building personality and developing his talents by keeping pace with all competitions, events.
In his turn, the Dean of Student Affairs congratulated the participating students, offering his support to them, and thanking the efforts of all those who contributed to achieving this success.
The reception was also attended by trainer Mustafa Al-Marhej, supervisor of sports activities at the university, colleague Joseph Jerji, head of the Student’s Union branch at the university, and colleague Aghid Hayani, member of the branch leadership – head of the sub-office of sports activity at the university.
