The International University for Science and Technology has launched the Digital Research Unit at the Faculty of Dentistry in a pioneering step to keep pace with the latest global developments in digital medicine and artificial intelligence.
The University President, Prof. Dr. Ammar Nassar Agha, inaugurated the unit today in the presence of the Dean of the Faculty, Dr. Mohammad Salem Rakkab, and the founder of the unit, Dr. Ghassan Basit, along with a number of faculty members and students.
The unit aims to empower undergraduate dental students by providing training in the latest digital technologies in dentistry. This includes digital impressions, digital smile design, research preparation and clinical case publication, working with digital systems and surgical guides, temporary crowns, and the design of surgical guides based on clinical case data, in addition to advanced implant systems.
The University President also inaugurated six new classrooms at the faculty, equipped with state-of-the-art educational facilities, as part of efforts to enhance the academic and service environment for students.
The opening ceremony was followed by a scientific day on the applications of artificial intelligence in dentistry, featuring lectures by Prof. Dr. Hani Ta’meh, Dr. Moaz Al-Khouli, Mohammad Bilal Ismail, and Dr. Ghassan Basit.
The Digital Research Unit is considered the first of its kind among private universities, equipped with the latest technologies. This initiative reflects the university’s vision to keep pace with scientific and technological advancements and to enhance students’ skills to meet the demands of the labor market in innovation and scientific research in dentistry.
