A Scientific Study Reveals the Impact of Digital Media on Early Childhood Social Skills

A researcher from the International University for Science and Technology, in collaboration with researchers from Cihan University (Duhok) and the University of Malaga, Spain, presented a field study entitled:

“The Impact of Digital Media on the Development of Social Skills in Early Childhood Children.”

The study employed a descriptive analytical approach and used a questionnaire to collect data from a sample of 55 caregivers in early childhood centers in Damascus.

The study‘s findings revealed the following:

Digital media has a positive impact on developing children’s cooperation skills, through their participation in physical activities and their use of their friends’ belongings when needed.

The impact of digital media on developing emotional and organizational skills was weak.

The impact of digital media on organizational skills, in terms of children’s adherence to their assigned roles when asked, was acceptable.

The role of caregivers in utilizing digital media tools to develop social skills, including training children to protect themselves from the risks of digital media, is weak. It should be noted that the study was published in the Journal of Islamic Studies and Research: Masar, issued by the College of Media at the Iraqi University, and it is classified with the DOI code.
