The International University for Science and Technology (IUST) has achieved first place among Syrian universities in the 2025 Green Global Ranking
The International University for Science and Technology (IUST) has achieved first place among Syrian universities in the 2025 Green Global Ranking, according to the results released on December 5, 2025. This ranking maintains IUST’s leading position among Syrian universities, placing it among only four Syrian universities included in the ranking out of more than 1,750 universities worldwide. This reflects IUST’s outstanding excellence in both education and scientific research.
Professor Ammar Nasser Agha, President of IUST, expressed his pride in this achievement, stating: “We are proud of this accomplishment, which is the result of continuous and sustained work in several areas. This ranking is part of our strategic priorities, and we have implemented numerous measures to improve the university’s infrastructure. These measures include upgrading classrooms, laboratories, and service facilities, contributing to a distinguished and comprehensive learning environment. We have worked diligently to establish a state-of-the-art educational infrastructure and support it with outstanding research capabilities, which has contributed to this achievement.” Dr. Nasser Agha added, “The university has placed great emphasis on scientific research by motivating and encouraging our faculty and students to publish their research internationally. Thanks to these efforts, we have been able to guide undergraduate students toward international scientific publications, and we have provided comprehensive support to researchers through incentive awards and various support mechanisms.”
In closing, he thanked all the university’s academic, administrative, and student staff, emphasizing that this achievement is the result of collective work and that the university will continue its journey toward achieving academic excellence and leadership in the fields of education and scientific research.
Green Ranking: Evaluation Criteria and Indicators

Quality of the Educational Process: This includes academic accreditation and the reliability of the educational process at the university.
Infrastructure: This includes cleanliness, the availability of water resources (the International University has four water wells), and maintaining a comfortable learning environment in all facilities.
Scientific Research: This is evaluated based on the measures taken to support scientific research and the publication of research in reputable databases such as Scopus.
Renewable Energy: The university contributes to implementing sustainability and renewable energy standards across all its facilities.
