  • Dr. Bilal Zaarour is among Stanford’s top 2% of the world’s most distinguished and influential scientists for 2025.

The International University for Science and Technology extends its warmest congratulations to Dr. Bilal Zaarour, professor in the College of Arts and Sciences, on his selection among the top 2% of scientists worldwide, according to the 2025 Stanford University Rankings, in collaboration with Elsevier.
This prestigious achievement is in recognition of Dr. Zaarour’s pioneering scientific contributions in the field of enabling and strategic technologies. His research focuses on the use of nanotechnology, particularly nanofibers, in engineering, industrial, and medical applications.
Dr. Bilal Zaarour is among the ten elite Syrian researchers included in this global list, which includes the world’s most influential scientists across various disciplines.
Dr. Zaarour is also a faculty member at the University of Damascus, Faculty of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering, Department of Textile Engineering and Technology. He has a distinguished research record, including 33 scientific papers published in international peer-reviewed journals, and his research has been cited in numerous international studies with more than 1,240 citations.
It is worth noting that Dr. Zaarour was also awarded the title of Top Scholar for 2024 by the American platform ScholarGPS®, which specializes in analyzing academic activity. This recognition was based on the number of his published papers and the number of scientific citations he received for his international published research.
