  • A delegation from the Damascus Intermediate Institute and the Technology Pioneers Community visited the university and met with students participating in the UNRWA First SparkTech 2025 exhibition.

Today, the International University for Science and Technology hosted a delegation from the UNRWA Damascus Intermediate Institute and the Technology Pioneers Community. The visit aimed to support students participating in the “UNRWA First SparkTech 2025” exhibition and provide them with guidance to enhance their technology projects’ chances of qualifying for the international “Teknofest” competition in Turkey.

During the visit, the delegation met with the Head of the Informatics Department, Dr. Hayyan Al-Sabai, and the students participating in the exhibition. They reviewed the innovative projects presented and listened to explanations from the students about their ideas and applications. The delegation provided intensive guidance and orientation sessions focusing on developing prototypes, improving the quality of presentations, and enhancing technical and marketing aspects, with the aim of increasing their chances of qualifying for the Teknofest Turkey competition, one of the most prominent events accompanying the exhibition.

The delegation included:
* Engineer Othman Hussein, General Coordinator of the Technology Pioneers Community.
* Engineer Nour Al-Hakim, Project Coordinator in the Informatics Department and Artificial Intelligence Trainer at the UNRWA Damascus Intermediate Institute.
* Mr. Yaqoub Saleh, from the Technology Pioneers Community.

At the conclusion of the visit, University President Professor Dr. Ammar Nasser Agha welcomed the delegation to his office, emphasizing the university administration’s support for these initiatives, which harness students’ creative potential and provide them with platforms for display and competition locally and internationally.

It’s worth noting that the “First SparkTech 2025” exhibition will see broad participation from Syrian universities and academic institutes, as well as organizations, technology companies, and government agencies. It will include a diverse range of activities, most notably:
1. Student Projects Exhibition.
2. Tech Business and Jobs Exhibition, connecting graduates with the job market.
3. Lectures and workshops.
4. Project Competition to select the best projects to participate in the international “Teknofest” competition in Turkey.
5. An entertainment section that fosters an atmosphere of interaction and creativity.
